Buds are undeveloped shoots and flowers. Buds are classified terminal or lateral. Another term for terminal is apical. Terminal buds can be identified by their location at the tip of a stem. Lateral buds are located at the sides of the stem. Flower buds are normally larger than VEGETATIVE buds.

Leaf Blight (fungus - Alternaria dauci) Infection occurs mostly on older leaves, but younger leaves may also become infected. Leaf blight first appears as indefinite brown to black areas with pale yellow centers. Infected leaves shrivel when infection is heavy [Photo #1].

The hypocotyl explants were then inoculated with Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404(pBI121). After 2 days of culture the first cell divisions were observed in the epidermis and cortex. After 67 days, numerous adventitious bud primordia appeared in 58.4% of the explants.
