The weevil, not native to North America, was introduced to B.C.'s lower mainland from Europe in the 1930s. From there, it spread down the coast into Washington, Idaho and Oregon. They have not been found in North Dakota. The Life Cycle Only one generation of weevil is produced per year.

In a sauté pan, heat the oil and cook the shredded red cabbage and diced onion until just tender. Pour over the vinegar and sprinkle on the sugar. Stir gently to combine. Add the peeled, cored and chopped apple and the pinch of either caraway seed or juniper berry. Mix loosely and serve.
