Origin and Distribution: Wild asparagus is native to coastal regions of Europe and Asia, and was brought to North America by European settlers in the 1700 s. It is commonly cultivated in gardens, and often escapes, becoming established in waste places, along roadsides and fencerows.

One of my favourite vegetables is Asparagus, particularly when cooked with a little fresh lemon juice, and butter. Asparagus is a long-lived perennial. It may be productive for as long as 20 years. It possesses a light, fernlike foliage and reaches a height of over 90 cm, and a spread of 45 cm.
