Cat's claw / Una de Gato (Uncaria spp) Cat's claw is a liana, a plant that begins its life as a shrub, then becomes a vine as it winds its way up into the canopy. Why Cat's claw? Because it has curved spines at the base of each set of leaves which look like the claws of a cat.
